About the event
From India’s ancient heritage of palm leaf manuscripts to contemporary bookmaking today, we will learn about different types of books and how they are made. Using easily available materials, each participant will have the opportunity to create their own unique stamps for designing their book covers, as well as incorporate other decorative elements such as collage, paper weaving and stitching. We will focus on pamphlet stitch, which is a versatile sewn binding, as well as concertina style books with accordion folds.
Each person will leave the workshop with one or more handmade books, as well as the knowledge of how to create them on their own.
For ages 10 and older
